چکیده
Molecular oxygen (O 2 ) is essential for the survival of all aerobic organisms. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as superoxide anion (O 2 ), hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), and hydroxyl radical (HO•), consist of radical and non-radical oxygen species formed by the partial reduction of oxygen. The radicals derived from oxygen represent the most abundant class of radical species generated in living system. There are exogenous and endogenous sources of cellular ROS. Exogenous sources include irradiation (UV, Xand γ-rays) and chemicals, such as redox-active metals (such as Fe and Cu) that enhance the Fenton/Haber– Weiss reaction (Trachootham et al. 2008). ROS are also generated through multiple sources inside the cells, such as the electron transport chain in mitochondria and through enzymes producing superoxide anion such as phagocytic and nonphagocytic NADPH oxidase, lipoxygenases and cycloxygenases. Two other oxidant species that are physiologically relevant are HOCl produced by the myeloperoxidase from neutrophils, and singlet oxygen (O 2 ) generated upon photosensitization and UVA irradiation (Roos et al. 2003). ROS can inflict damage to nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids and have been implicated in carcinogenesis, neurodegeneration, atherosclerosis, diabetes and aging (Ray et al. 2012). When ROS overwhelm the cellular antioxidant defense system, the cellular redox status is perturbed resulting in oxidative stress.

A Review of Curricular Approaches and Quality of Life Indicators in the United States for Individuals Displaing Profound Multiple Disabilities
During the last two decades in the United States, there has been an increase in research studies on two salient areas of interests impacting individuals with profound multiple disabilities (PMD): providing access to appropriate educational curriculums and enhancing overall quality of life. Despite this interest, attempts to link positive quality of life indicators and appropriate educational cu...
متن کاملScalable Bayesian Inference via Particle Mirror Descent
Bayesian methods are appealing in their flexibility in modeling complex data and ability in capturing uncertainty in parameters. However, when Bayes’ rule does not result in tractable closed-form, most approximate inference algorithms lack either scalability or rigorous guarantees. To tackle this challenge, we propose a simple yet provable algorithm, Particle Mirror Descent (PMD), to iterativel...
متن کاملAll-order polarisation mode dispersion compensation in 10 Gbit/s 3 2 Pol-Mux system via hyperfine resolution optical pulse shaping
Introduction: Polarisation division multiplexing (Pol-Mux) is an important method to improve spectral efficiency in lightwave communications. For Pol-Mux used in ultra-high-capacity fibre systems, polarisation mode dispersion (PMD) [1] not only distorts and broadens the signal, but also couples polarisation-multiplexed channels. In the case of large PMD, this coupling becomes strongly frequency...
متن کاملBilateral Comparison on Polarization Mode Dispersion between KRISS and NIST
Polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is one of the major parameters used to characterize optical fiber and fiber optic components. It has to be accurately measured and controlled or mitigated to ensure optical signal transmission with modulation rates of more than 10 Gbps for conventional single mode fiber [1]. Demand for PMD references has been gradually increasing as the instruments of PMD meas...
Single-end Measurement of Polarization Mode Dispersion in Optical Fibers with Polarization-dependent Loss
A new reflectometric technique is proposed to measure the polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in optical fiber links with polarization-dependent loss. Based on the PMD dynamical equation, some important relations can be obtained to make the backreflection measurement of PMD possible. Thus we can perform the single-end spectral resolved measurement of the differential group delay and the differen...
